Home Remedies For Cold and Cough

These are all remedies I have tried successfully for my child, a 3 year old.

A. Dry roast flax seeds. When they start sputtering add water and tulsi (indian basil) leaves and its flowers (kansa). Let it come to boil. Lower the cooking gas flame to sim and continue for about 10 min till the colour changes. Drain and drink warm. You can add crystal sugar too. Great for controlling colds when the watery nasal discharge just starts.
B. Take water in a container. In this add 4 to 5 mint leaves, 1tsp fennel( saunf), 1tsp crystal sugar and 10 black raisins slightly crushed. Bring to boil, reduce heat. Keep on gas till water is reduced to half. Drain and drink warm. Helps to control and flush out cold especially in initial phases. Can be given once a week to keep colds at bay.
C. Cut a 2 inch piece of aloe vera. Wash thoroughly and dry roast in a pan. Discoloration of the surface should be seen on both sides. Once it cools, peel off skin and remove the gel which is inside. Beat it slightly and mix honey. For babies younger than 1 year, give 1tbsp I.e. 1/2 tbsp honey and 1/2 tbsp gel. For older children you can give increased quantity. This medicine helps to clear out cold via stools. There might be increased stools frequency and softer stools. Avoid this remedy during loose motion. Can be given once a week  as a general immunity booster.
D. Cut raw onion longitudinal, add sugar and cover and keep. The extract will be seen in about half hour. This can be given, about 1 tsp, every hourly for allergic cold. However, if cold worsens, discontinue.
E. Crush 1 garlic pod and boil it in 2 tbsp milk. When the milk reduces to half, strain, add sugar and drink warm. Excellent remedy for allergic, persistent type of cough.
F. Dry roast 4 to 5 leaves of large mint (pudina). Do not make them crisp. Squeeze out the juice. One tablespoon juice is very effective for allergic, persistent type of cough especially when temperatures are soaring.
G. Dry roast 5 cloves till crisp. Make powder, mix with honey and give a spoonful. Can be used for cough.
H. Flax seed oil can be mixed with curd, salads. It should not be added to anything hot as it is a cold pressed oil. Please check with your doctor for this remedy, especially when taking any medications.

Casino-de-toilet!!

Out sightseeing, my husband needed to take a short trip to the restroom. Spotting a pay toilet, he hurried and placed a coin into the slot, to activate the door. The machine happily swallowed the coin, but the door refused to budge. Try as he might the door was tightly shut and there was no chance of it opening. Understandably frustrated, the poor guy hit the coin holder- and lo and behold! hit jackpot!! about 5 coins tumbled out from the overfilled coin collector. He did it again and another stream of coins followed!! All frustration forgotten, the machine received another few thumps and we did get rewarded with some few coins!!
Considering that it did not amount to much, but it did help to ease the frustration till we managed to find another restroom.
